The most troublesome thing to type into Google Images, unless you want to look at people’s holiday photos and a Korean singer…
Nicky Lee said right at the beginning of this project that her aim was to tell a “pure romance”; I believe she suceeded.
Put very simply, Provence follows two story arcs based around the eponymous cafe’s owners Hayes and Hayumi and their respective romantic journeys.
This is actually a very sweet manhua, which aside from not really following up the first story arc is an absolute gem for Nicky Lee fans to discover. The story leaves you with a warm fuzzy glow, and a desire for unusual tea combinations/flavours – (anyone know where I can get lavender tea)? It’s strange at first because as this is an earlier Nicky Lee project the style is somewhat less refined than her later manhua (duh), but all the same it’s charming.
4.5 out of 5, read it or regret it. Stay tuned folks.
